The 1 micron cartridge is designed for New Zealand town water supply. It reduces chlorine, sediment, fine particles, and the tastes and odours that make mains water unpleasant to drink.
At 1 micron, the filter captures particles down to one thousandth of a millimetre, fine enough to noticeably improve water clarity and taste without restricting flow. The result is cleaner, fresher drinking water straight from your tap.
This filter is not suitable for rural, bore, tank, or well water. It is designed for treated town supply only, or rural supply water with effective UV and filter water treatment.
Replacement takes around 10 minutes and requires no specialist tools. Most households replace this cartridge every 6–12 months, depending on water quality and usage. We recommend checking it at least every 6 months.
1. Turn off the water supply Locate the shut-off valve under your sink and turn it off before starting.
2. Disconnect the old cartridge Squeeze or release the push-fit connectors on each end of the existing cartridge and pull the tubing free. Have a small container or cloth handy — a small amount of water may release from the lines.
3. Connect the new cartridge Push the tubing firmly into the connectors on the new FSINLINE cartridge until you feel it click into place. Check the flow arrow on the cartridge body is pointing in the direction of water flow toward your tap.
4. Turn the water back on and flush Restore the water supply and run the filtered tap for 2–3 minutes to flush the new cartridge before drinking.
If your flow rate drops noticeably before 6 months, the cartridge may be exhausted early due to high sediment load in your local supply. Replace it sooner rather than waiting.
Both filters use a carbon design and reduce the same things: chlorine, sediment, fine particles, tastes, and odours.. The difference is filtration fineness.
The 1 micron filter (FSINLINE) captures particles down to 1 micron. It delivers strong everyday filtration for most NZ households on town water, with a flow rate of 2.8 litres per minute.
The 0.5 micron filter is a 2 part filter with a carbon block and captures finer particles, providing a higher level of particulate reduction. It suits households that want finer filtration and a longer filter cartridge life.
For most homes on standard NZ town water, the 1 micron cartridge performs well and is the correct replacement for the KFINLINETAP system. If you are unsure which micron rating your system or home requires, check your original system documentation or contact us.
The FSINLINE 1 micron cartridge will fit any inline water filter system that uses standard 6mm push-fit (quick connect) fittings. This is the most common inline fitting size used in under-sink filtration systems.
