Pleated cartridges are built from polyester, polypropylene and cellulose media, folded to create a large surface area, giving them significantly higher dirt holding capacity than a standard sediment cartridge of the same size.

Because they're washable and reusable (above 10 micron), cleaning is required less often and the cartridge lasts considerably longer before replacement is needed, making them a cost-effective alternative to disposable sediment cartridges over time.

Pleated cartridges are best used as a first-stage filter, where their high capacity and reusability come into their own, catching the bulk of sediment, dirt and fines before water moves on to a finer polishing stage or carbon filtration.

They're not recommended for systems with sharp ON/OFF cycling, as repeated pressure shocks can affect the pleated media over time.
