Product Description

CTO stands for Chlorine, Taste, Odour. It's formed by extruding activated carbon with food grade binders into a solid block, using a blend of acid washed bituminous GAC and water washed coconut shell GAC.

As water passes through, contaminants are attracted to and held on the carbon's surface through adsorption, significantly improving taste, reducing odour, and removing organic matter for noticeably cleaner tasting water at every tap.

CTO cartridges are a carbon stage, not a sediment stage. They're designed to run after a polyspun or pleated cartridge has removed sediment, silt and rust from the water. This protects the carbon block from premature clogging, extends its working life.

What does CTO stand for?

Should a CTO cartridge be used before or after a sediment filter?

After. Sediment should be removed first to prevent the carbon block from clogging prematurely, extending the CTO cartridge's working life.

Can a CTO cartridge be washed and reused?

No. Once the carbon's adsorption capacity is exhausted, it can't be regenerated or cleaned. It needs to be replaced.

Do these fit standard (non-jumbo) housings?

No, these are sized for big 10" and 20" jumbo white housings (Big Blue style).
